What are the Options for Teeth Whitening?
There are mainly two methods of teeth whitening:
1. In-Office Whitening
This is a two-step process. In the first step, your dentist will remove the plaque, tartar on and between your teeth, and bacterial growth, followed by the application of gel on your teeth. This is left on for about an hour. A laser source is then used to increase the action of hydrogen peroxide applied on the teeth.
The benefit of in-office whitening is that the results are immediate.
Laser teeth whitening is a safe option for people who have very sensitive teeth.
2. Take-Home Whitening
Your dentist will give you a custom-made mouth tray made of thin, flexible plastic that can be filled with whitening gel and left on your teeth for the time recommended by the dentist. This process generally takes up to 30 days to provide the desired result.
